A few days before his Westminster scuffle with “Stop Brexit” protester Steve Bray, Reform MP Lee Anderson was involved in another nose-to-nose confrontation. This came outside high-flying Nottingham Forest’s City Ground, where Anderson – wearing a Forest baseball cap – was cornered by a fellow fan and told him he wasn’t welcome at the ground where the famously left wing Brian Clough managed with such distinction.
The Ashfield MP replied that as a supporter, he was entitled as anyone to watch Forest. But some remember the days – not too long ago – when Anderson professed to be a fan of another club instead. In 2020, while recovering from Covid, he appeared on a Commons videolink wearing a Mansfield Town scarf and said: “As a lifelong Mansfield Town supporter, I want to get back into the One Call Stadium as soon as possible to cheer on the mighty Stags.”

Surely not another case of shifting loyalties from Anderson, formerly a Labour councillor and Conservative MP?
