GB News, Darren Grimes and a case of sour grapes

It didn’t take long for former GB News host Darren Grimes to turn on his former friends and colleagues at the hard right channel – 36 days, in fact.

Grimes departed from the channel last month with an abruptness that prompted fans to wonder if there was more to the tale than they were hearing – questions Grimes himself was happy enough to repost.

He’s still busy watching, though, and this week he offered his thoughts on old pal Tom Harwood, the channel’s deputy political editor. Harwood was commenting on the news that two transgender competitors had made it to the final of a women’s pool competition, but he made the mistake of irking his perma-furious co-presenter Emily Carver, with outrageous remarks such as “I do believe that there are transgender people who deserve to be treated with dignity and respect”.

“Harwood represents everything wrong with the Conservative Party,” posted Grimes on X of his old mucker, a former Guido Fawkes staffer not generally thought of as a raging pinko. He was joined by his friend Calvin Robinson, the oddball cleric also considered too wacky for even GB News, who chipped in: “Tom is many things. A conservative he is not.” How sad to see!

The comments below Grimes’s post, meanwhile, reveal a segment of the channel’s audience who regard GB News as too left-wing for their tastes. Among views posted were that the channel is “full of deceit no different the the [sic] British Brainwash Corporation, Sly News, or Communist News Network”, that it “is going woke” and that Harwood’s “job is very secure with Globalist Britain News”. Nurse! The smelling salts!
