In the unlikely event that you fancy being stranded at sea for a week with a bunch of people deemed too loopy even for GB News and paying more than three-and-half grand for the privilege – here’s your chance.
In a bid to recoup some of the £50,000 legal fees he has been ordered to pay after losing his legal battle with Ofcom this week, former GBeebies presenter Mark Steyn is hosting a week-long cruise around Spain and Portugal next April, aboard the MS Celebrity Apex.
Steyn had taken the regulator to court after it ruled his ill-considered claims about Covid vaccines breached its rules (he quit the channel after it declined to pay his fines). Now he’s out on the open seas, promising “thoughtful discussions on the state of western civilisation and analysis of political and cultural trends from the United States to the far reaches of the Commonwealth”. And what a line-up of thinkers he’s taking with him!
There’s former actor turned hard right blowhard Lawrence Fox who, the cruise’s website says, “presents an opinion show on GB News” despite doing no such thing since getting the push last year after guffawing on air about not wanting to have sex with a female journalist.
Then there’s Dan Wootton, sacked by the channel over the same incident after giggling along with his old mucker, and Calvin Robinson, who similarly got the heave-ho after backing the pair.
Add to this Tea Party weirdo Michele Bachmann, with her regular rants at “transgender Black Marxists” and claims global warming is “all voodoo, nonsense, hokum, a hoax”, crackpot columnist Samantha Smith and, er, former topless model Leilani Dowding and it’s a snip with prices starting at £3,500 for a single person. Don’t all rush at once.
