Sir Keir Starmer might think he can make Brexit work, but some in his Labour Party are far from sure.
At Rupa Huq’s 50th birthday party, held at the Ealing Project in her west London constituency, the member for Ealing Central and Acton whipped on a T-shirt emblazoned with the words: “Brexit is toxic: We demand a people’s vote.”
During her speech, the amiable Huq turned to Sharon Hodgson, Starmer’s PPS, and asked: “Am I going to get in trouble, Sharon, for this t-shirt?” Happily, Rupa had worn a neutral t-shirt while a film crew from BBC Politics were on hand earlier, so hopefully she’ll get away with it.
