It’s unlikely Sir Ed Davey, the incumbent Lib Dem leader, will ever be sitting on a fortune quite as humongous as that of his predecessor, Sir Nick Clegg, who I disclosed last week had amassed shares in Meta – formerly Facebook – worth around £19.3m. His annual salary has been estimated at £2.7m, while his recent promotion to president for global affairs at the company bagged him still more shares.
More modestly, the net worth of the Davey household’s management consultancy Energy Destinations has risen by £35,000 in value to £109,136. Emily Gasson founded the business with her husband in 2015, with Ed stepping down as director in 2017.
Accounts therefore show “total dividends of £20,000” for Davey’s wife – no more than small change, of course, for Clegg.
