Companies attempting to trade overseas may be complaining they are being strangled by Brexit red tape, but Virginia Crosbie, the Conservative MP for Ynys Môn, has just sent a newsletter to constituents telling them to rejoice.
She’s cock-a-hoop that the HMRC Inland Border Facility – which will carry out customs and excise checks on freight vehicles – and a new “sanitary and photo-sanitary border control post” – will be situated in her constituency, in addition to being host to a “temporary freight parking facility”, which everyone else regards as a curse and an eyesore.
“This is a great example of Cardiff and Westminster working together to maximise local opportunities and deliver jobs to our islands,” she trills.
